ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Barbara Fields is a passionate financial professional boasting an impressive career that spans over two decades in the financial industry. With a BA degree in Business Management, her expertise covers a broad spectrum, including retirement, investment, and credit. Barbara has served at three major banking institutions, a testament to her depth of knowledge and ability to navigate complex financial landscapes.
Barbara’s compassion and determination to make a difference inspired her to establish Simon Peter Kids, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting kids who have aged out of the foster care system. The organization aims to equip these young adults with financial guidance and education, helping them transition into independence with confidence and resilience.
Barbara’s commitment to this cause runs deep, rooted in her personal experiences. During her upbringing, she had the opportunity to spend time with foster children at her best friend’s grandmother house, where her friend grandmother served as a foster mom. These encounters left an indelible mark on Barbara, as she witnessed the remarkable intelligence and humble nature of these children. Unfortunately, the devastating news reached her later that one of these boys had ended up homeless after aging out of the foster care system. This heart-wrenching incident ignited a fervent determination within Barbara to address the critical gap in the foster care system. She became resolute in her mission to ensure that foster children receive the essential financial education necessary for a successful and secure future.
Barbara and her late husband embarked on a noble endeavor in 2011 when they introduced Simon Peter Kids to their loved ones, envisioning a pathway to financial empowerment for young individuals transitioning out of the foster care system. Despite encountering obstacles along the way, Barbara’s unyielding commitment rekindled her passion for this cause. Following the heartbreaking loss of her husband in 2018, she resolved to turn their shared dream into reality. Ultimately, in 2021, Simon Peter Kids was officially established as a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Driven by her deep compassion for the youth in the foster care system, Barbara actively engages in various community roles to serve and support them. She recognizes the difficulties that young adults face when transitioning into adulthood, particularly the absence of a strong support network that is often lacking for those in foster care.

Ivery serves as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors for Simon Peter Kids, bringing over seven years of experience in member relations and community engagement. Her ability to strengthen community ties, elevate member satisfaction, and manage finances effectively makes Ivery an invaluable asset to the organization. We are thrilled to welcome Monia Resuma to the Board of Directors at Simon Peter Kids, where she will serve as Co-Vice President. With over 20 years of experience in the wealth management industry, Monia brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep passion for helping individuals achieve their financial goals. Her dedication to empowering young adults and teenagers, particularly within minority communities, aligns perfectly with our mission. Through her one-on-one consultations and group sessions, Moina has made a significant impact by guiding others on their financial journeys.
