They Aged Out of the System. We Made Sure They Didn’t Age Out of Opportunity

For thousands of young people aging out of foster care, financial uncertainty isn’t just a possibility — it’s the reality.

Every year, tens of thousands of youth “age out” of the foster care system, often with little more than a few belongings and a hope that things will work out. No parent to call when rent is due. No one to explain what a credit score is or how to open a bank account. Without that foundation, too many of these young people find themselves in crisis before they’ve had a real chance to get started.

That’s exactly why Simon Peter Kids created the FLEX Program — Financial Literacy and Empowerment Experience.

Building the Foundation They Deserve

FLEX is a structured financial education program designed specifically for youth in or transitioning out of foster care. Across four powerful sessions, participants learn the skills that most of us take for granted:

  • Budgeting and banking basics — how to manage money day to day
  • Credit and debt — how credit works and how to protect their financial future
  • Saving and investing — building a cushion and planning for tomorrow
  • Career and AI readiness — tools for thriving in today’s workforce

Every session is trauma-informed, interactive, and built around real-life situations. Participants don’t just learn theory — they practice making decisions, navigating challenges, and seeing themselves as people capable of financial independence.

More Than a Workshop. A Turning Point.

For a young person who has never had stable financial guidance, completing the FLEX program isn’t just educational — it’s transformative. Each participant walks away with new confidence, practical tools, and a certificate of completion they’ve genuinely earned.

You can be part of that transformation. Whether you support our work financially, share our mission with others, or connect us with an organization serving foster youth, you help make moments like these possible.
